Now, these five (or actually three) brains within man work independently of each other, but are connected by all kinds of associative mechanisms, all kinds of associative conditions which man has acquired during his life.So that if he sits in a certain posture, for example, he would inevitably feel in a certain mood. And if he thinks certain thoughts, they will evoke in him a certain posture. If he has a certain mood going on, it will be connected with certain thoughts. But, in no other sense can they be said to work together creatively. And for man to be able to do effective work, it is necessary that at least two of these centers should be working, not in unison so much as in harmony with each other. For example, if a man is laying bricks or sawing a piece of wood for a desk or a table, if he is doing it without any thought at all, it will be very bad work. We all, I think, know that. If he applies his thought to it, his attention to it, it will already be different. If he is interested in what he is doing, if he likes what he is doing, it will be, again, different. Continue with the story of the man with the cabbage, wolf, and sheep.
